Ten years’ experience in all areas of UK railway systems (both mainline and mass transit), principally in design, manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning as well as international experience in countries including Greece, Poland, Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, India, Malaysia, UAE, Panama, Guinea, South Africa and Mozambique.
Principle area of interest is the development and deployment of modern complex Train Control Systems including (but not limited to) European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), Positive Train Control (PTC) and Communication Based Train Control (CBTC), including Automatic Train Control (ATC) and Automatic Train Supervision (ATS).
Experienced with free-wired and solid state interlocking systems, ATC (Automatic Train Control) systems, control systems, communications systems (vital and non-vital) and rolling stock (both mainline and mass transit).
Lead Train Control Systems Engineer for the Simandou Rail Mine and Port Project, responsible for all aspects of development of signalling, train protection and control centre for new mine to port railway line in Guinea.
Technical Lead for the fitment of ETCS onboard equipment to all UK passenger rolling stock.
Was lead systems engineer responsible for the integration of control centre, signalling and ATC – utilising Invensys Distance to Go – Radio (DTG-R) system – on the Victoria Line Upgrade project for London Underground.
Practical experience of implementing ERTMS Level 2 on the Cambrian Line in the UK. Responsible for development of ETCS (European Train Control System) onboard and trackside technical files for the Cambrian Line.
Held responsible position in Network Rail for assessing interlocking and control systems for both generic and specific product acceptance.
Practical experience of designing electronics products for use on the railway for use in rolling stock, signalling and test equipment, including circuit design, printed circuit board (PCB) design and software development.
Responsible for technical assessment and assurance of CBTC mass transit system developed and deployed on Edmonton NLRT lines in Canada.
Systems engineer responsible for integration of all systems at Nacala Port for new mining railway in Mozambique, as well as assisting with development of PTC system for main railway line.
Lead Train Control Systems Engineer for the Simandou Rail Mine and Port Project. Responsible for all aspects of development of signalling, train protection and control centre for new mine to port railway line in Guinea.
Key proficiencies in the categories of project management, safety management, and the technical areas of systems, signalling, control, communications and rolling stock. Knowledge of standards, procedures, product acceptance, product design and regulatory framework.
